IGN Cube:

"Take a look at the original Resident Evil and compare it to the remake on GameCube, for instance. The difference, from a visual standpoint, is jaw dropping. The GCN update is simply gorgeous. And yet, as far as play mechanics are concerned, not all that much has changed."

8.2

Game Spot:
"Those who have stuck with the Resident Evil series despite its dogged insistence on not changing its ways will find that RE0 still has a lot to offer in the form of some terrific graphics, a couple of small changes to the series' gameplay, and a story that unveils the origins behind the Umbrella corporation."

8.0

Gamers.com:
"The razor-sharp visuals and lifelike backgrounds (including a few truly amazing scenes atop a moving train) add to the chilling atmosphere that makes RE games worth playing. It's all about the glorious decay of dusty floorboards and darkened secret labs that create that wonderfully spooky feeling."

8.0

Nintendo Power:
"Not only is Resident Evil Zero the visual feast that we expected, it's a captivating and horrifying journey into the world of Resident Evil. Lots of scares, lots of weird, gory creatures and lots of running around, wishing that someone had thought to leave more ammo."
